Long runs in older layouts

Older Alhambra houses were added onto over the decades, so the back bedroom bath can end up far from the heater. That distance is where the wait comes from.

A recirculating pump pushes cooled water back to the heater so hot water sits closer to the tap.

Troubleshooting a pump

We check power, the timer or sensor, the impeller and the check valve. A pump that runs warm but moves nothing often has a seized impeller.

Replacing it

We fit a matching pump on the existing flanges where possible, or adapt the piping when the old model is discontinued.

In units without a return line, a crossover valve under the farthest sink can do the same job.

Craftsman and bungalow layouts

Older Alhambra bungalows often run hot water through a crawlspace. We check insulation on that run, since heat lost there makes the pump work harder.

Pipe insulation on the return line is a small addition that helps.

Alhambra questions, answered

Can one pump serve both units of a duplex?

Only if they share a heater. Separate heaters need separate pumps.

Why is my pump noisy?

Air in the loop or a worn bearing. We bleed it and check the motor.
